Succulents for Soups: Small plants, big impact on hunger and water use

Updated October 14, 2025
Do you have extra canned goods or non-perishable items in your pantry? Now is the perfect time to give back to the community and help reduce food insecurity!

From November 12 through December 19, bring your non-perishable food items to the Utility Exploration Center or Utilities' Customer Care Center, and as a token of our appreciation, you’ll receive one complimentary succulent, provided by our partners at Green Acres Nursery and Supply.

Drop-off locations:

Utility Exploration Center, 1501 Pleasant Grove Boulevard
Tuesday through Saturday, 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Utilities Customer Care Center, 116 S. Grant Street
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In the combined past two years, we were proud to collect over an estimated 13,000 pounds of food, all of which went directly to the Roseville St. Vincent de Paul Society to help combat hunger. This year, we're aiming to make an even greater impact, and we need your help!

Not only will your donation help local families in need, but the succulents you receive are a reminder of the importance of water efficiency. These drought-tolerant plants are perfect for conserving water, and with each succulent, you’ll also get tips on how to make your home more water-efficient.

Help us make a difference—both in our community and for the environment. This offer is valid while supplies last, so donate today, help decrease food insecurity, and do your part in conserving water!

Each family that donates will receive one succulent, while supplies last, and water-saving tips to enjoy.
