Face covering recommended to slow COVID-19 spread

Placer County health officer now recommends face covering on top of social distancing.

Cloth face coverings - such as a bandana, scarf or homemade cloth cover - are now recommended when leaving the house for essential activities.  This was announced by Placer County Health Officer Dr. Aimee Sisson to further slow the spread of COVID-19.  The cloth face coverings recommended are not surgical masks or N-95 respirators.  Those are critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and first responders.  Face coverings should be used in tandem with, not in place of, other strategies. It is critical to emphasize that maintaining 6-feet social distancing remains important to slowing the spread of the virus.

This recommendation complements and does not replace the President’s COVID-19 Guidelines for America, 30 Days to Slow the Spread, which remains the cornerstone of our national effort to slow the spread of the COVID-19.
