The Development Impact Fee Deferral Program was established as an incentive to encourage development that may not otherwise be feasible. This program is overseen by both the Economic Development Department and the Development Services Department.

The program allows for certain city-controlled fees to be deferred from building permit issuance to building permit final. Or, for Extended Fee Deferrals, up to one year past issuance of a certificate of occupancy or three years past issuance of the first building permit, whichever is earlier. 

Three fee deferral programs are offered:

1.   Commercial/Multi-family residential fee deferral
2.   Single-family residential fee deferral 
3.   Extended Fee Deferral for Affordable Housing project

Typical fees eligible for deferral include, the City-controlled Fire Service Construction, Public Facilities Fee, Local Sewer Fee, Water Connection Fee, Drainage Fee, Traffic Mitigation Fee, Solid Waste Fee and Electric Backbone Fee.
