The City maintains a computerized traffic forecasting model that is a key tool used in planning for the City’s future transportation system. While the traffic model is technically very complex in nature, it can be simply described as computer process to approximate future travel patterns, allowing the City to evaluate implications of land use decisions, identify and compare alternative transportation solutions, and to provide a basis for making transportation policy decisions.
The traffic model structure is developed as a subset of the
Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) 6-County regional traffic model (SACMET model); however, provides a greater level of detail within not only the City of Roseville, but all of Placer County west of Colfax, including Rocklin, Loomis, Lincoln and Auburn.
