If you’ve driven down Church Street lately, you may have noticed crews hard at work between Atkinson Street and Ivy Street. We’re in the middle of a critical sewer upgrade that will help ensure our wastewater system stays reliable and efficient for years to come. Work is expected to continue through July, moving steadily toward Birch Street.
This rehabilitation project will replace aging pipes before they become a problem. By using a trenchless technique called pipe bursting, we can upsize the existing sewer lines with minimal digging. It’s less disruptive to the neighborhood and allows us to complete the work more efficiently. In addition to the new pipelines, we’re also upgrading manholes and will fully restore the roadway once the underground work is complete.
Why now? Like anything that has been in place for decades, our underground infrastructure requires regular investment. These proactive upgrades help prevent backups, service disruptions, and costly emergency repairs in the future.
Work is taking place Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will continue through the end of July.
Temporary traffic impacts and detours are in place, and we appreciate your patience as we complete this important work.
