Unplug and save
We don't often think about it, but household appliances and electronic devices can slowly devour electricity.

Unplugging small appliances and electrical devices when not in use can save you up to 10% of your monthly energy use. Phone chargers, gaming consoles, and laptops are common devices we leave plugged in unnecessarily.

Another great way to prevent wasted energy is to use smart power strips. They automatically turn off power to devices that aren't being used, which helps you save energy and money!

It's wise to weatherize
As the cooler seasons approach, it’s a great time to take care of some no-cost and low-cost weatherization around your house.

Up to 20% of a home’s conditioned air is lost through the windows.

A couple simple tips to keep the cold out this fall include:

  • Replace any worn weather stripping and caulking around windows and doors.
  • Use curtains and blinds to block the cold from getting in or open them to let in the sun’s warmth.
  • Consider switching to energy efficient window coverings.
