About the Utility Exploration Center

Kids in the Exploration CenterThe Utility Exploration Center is a one-of-a-kind environmental learning center that offers information on protecting natural resources in a fun, engaging way.

We work with our utility partners to educate the community on topics that ensure our long-term quality of life, health and well-being.

Drop in to learn about energy efficiency, renewable technology, water conservation and recycling.

The Center is housed in the Martha Riley Community Library building. The building was the first in Placer County to be awarded Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.  

The Utility Exploration Center is located at 1501 Pleasant Grove Blvd. (Map / Get Directions) in Mahany Park. Normal hours of operation are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday (closed Sunday and Monday).

Free Exhibit Hall

The Center currently features six major exhibits within the 3,200 square-foot gallery space and a separate 800 square-foot Learning Lab suitable for class field trip experiments, speakers, demonstrations, workshops and other group activities.

The gallery area also provides space for rotating temporary displays.

Our Partners

The messages delivered through the exhibits and programs at the Utility Exploration Center are part of the efforts of Roseville Electric Utility and Environmental Utilities to encourage recycling, water conservation and other smart energy choices. The Center is the first of its kind on the West Coast and is dedicated to its mission to educate Roseville schoolchildren, our community and the region about the benefits and feasibility of using renewable and recycled resources, advanced technologies, and sustainable building and landscaping designs to inspire and motivate efficiency in everyday life.
