Kick-start your summer reading with sidewalk pickup

Looking to begin your summer reading? Not sure where to begin? Fear not – sidewalk pickup is now offered at the Riley and Maidu libraries! So far we have served over 2,000 patrons with sidewalk pickup in June alone.

Sidewalk pickup occurs 12:00-4:00pm on Tuesday-Saturday at Riley and Maidu libraries. The process is easy, just place a hold on library materials through the online library catalog; receive an email, phone call or text when your items are ready to pick up; then visit Riley or Maidu libraries during the designated times.

When you come to pick up the items on hold, park in the designated area and then call the number on the sign to let us know you are there. To ensure contactless delivery, we will retrieve your library items on hold, check them out to you and place on a table on the sidewalk with a receipt showing the items inside the bag.

Get started with sidewalk pickup today, and don’t forget to sign up for our Summer Reading Program here.

Returning library materials
If you have items currently checked out to return, bookdrops are now open but you have until June 30 to return items. If you are returning items but don't have new items to pick up during sidewalk service, we ask that you return them during hours other than the sidewalk pickup times to minimize any potential exposure of COVID-19.

All returned library materials will be quarantined for no less than 72 hours after returned to minimize potential spread of COVID-19. The items may still appear on your account during that time period but we have increased the maximum number of materials you may check out to accommodate this delay.
