Recycling this holiday season
Whether you're stringing up twinkling lights, adorning your evergreen with ornaments, enjoying the company of loved ones, exchanging gifts, or maybe even doing all the above, let's not forget that recycling can bring an extra dose of holiday cheer while helping reduce the waste pile.

Here are a few jolly ways to recycle and keep our landfills merry and bright during the holiday season.

  • Cardboard castles: After all those deliveries, you might have enough leftover carboard to construct a mini fortress. Save space in your trash can by taking those boxes to nearby recycling drop-off location. Remember, make sure the cardboard is flat before you drop it off.
  • Beverage bounty: Collect plastic, glass, and aluminum containers (CRV items) and visit a buyback center to reclaim your deposit. Verify which items qualify for redemption to maximize returns.
  • Electronic sleigh ride: If old computer equipment clutters your space, visit the landfill for free disposal or contact us for doorstep pickup. Explore our convenient pickup program for more details.
  • Battery bonanza: If your remote or gadgets need new batteries, drop off old ones at multiple Placer County locations, including Roseville. Tape the battery ends before disposal to prevent sparks.
  • Evergreen recycling: When it's time to say goodbye to your Balsam, Fraser, Canaan, Douglas, Grand, Concolor, or Noble Fir, you have several choices. Cut the tree into smaller sections for green waste pick-up, find a nearby tree drop-off site, or let our local Boy Scouts pick it up for you.
  • Grease the wheels: If you're cooking turkey or bacon-infused stuffing, avoid pouring fats, oils and grease down the drain to prevent clogs. Instead, store them in a sealable container like an old mayo or peanut butter jar, and we'll pick it up for free.
