Someone had smashed the victim’s car window while it was parked at a restaurant in the 1600 block of Douglas Blvd., stole her wallet and tried to fraudulently use her credit cards. Officers contacted a group and found out that they were friends, and the car owner didn’t want to press charges for the vandalism. The group left the property at the request of the hotel management. One of them then went over to a nearby restaurant and caused more problems with the staff. Officers detained him for being drunk in public. (2018-17851)

Folsom Road, recovered stolen car:  At 5:19 p.m. April 1, an officer checked an occupied older Honda Civic at a gas station at the corner of Douglas Blvd. and Harding Blvd., and found out it had been reported stolen from Sacramento on March 22. The officer arrested a 20-year-old Sacramento woman on suspicion of possessing a stolen car, possessing heroin and related paraphernalia, and possessing burglar’s tools. Her companion, a 34-year-old Sacramento man, was arrested on outstanding warrants.
NOTE: This car is a good example of a “Honda Hunter Special,” and you'll see similar cars mentioned in a lot of stolen car entries—an older car that auto thieves prefer because they’re quick and easy to steal with shaved keys and other common car thief tricks. If you depend on one of these good old cars, use a “Club” type steering wheel lock or other highly visible theft deterrence device. Car thieves looking for a quick and easy ride will give your car a pass. (2018-19556)
