Maidu Museum Summer Classes

Join us for summer fun and learning for ages 8 to 12. A few of our day camps and classes are filled, but you can still get a spot by clicking the links below!

For all events, wear closed toed shoes and clothes you can get dirty. Bring a hat, water, and a snack to class.

Day Camps

Maidu Games, Toys, and Music

9:00 AM - Noon

Learn how to make and play the traditional games and toys of the Maidu People. Create your own game sets, acorn tops and whistles from materials found in nature using only the kind of stone and bone tools crafted by local Native people. Use hand ground natural pigment paints to decorate your creations.



Stone Tools

9:00 AM - Noon

Create your very own stone tool at this one day class. Each participant will take home their own tool created using techniques and knowledge passed down through hundreds of generations. Must be 8 years or older.

We Dig Archaeology

Jul 30, 2022

9:00 AM - Noon

Discover all the amazing history around you. This one day class will explore the archaeology and history at the Maidu Museum's historic site trail. Participants will learn how archaeologists find how people lived thousands of years ago by what was left behind.
