Crime Suppression Unit makes arrests and takes guns off the street

The Roseville Police Department operates a Crime Suppression Unit. The Crime Suppression Unit consists of highly trained Detectives assigned to identifying emerging crime trends or problem areas in the City and then finding solutions to those issues. The overriding philosophy of the Crime Suppression Unit is that crime can be deterred through highly proactive enforcement and directed enforcement following creative problem oriented policing strategies.

The following is a high level brief of two of their recent cases: 

Case #1

On April 25, 2019 the Roseville Police Department’s Crime Suppression Unit developed information that an inmate, currently incarcerated at the Sacramento County Jail, was trying to conceal evidence utilizing his family and their residence. 

The incarcerated subject was identified as Morgan Davis.  Davis was previously arrested by the Sacramento Police Department on various charges and a parole violation. Davis was known to the Crime Suppression Unit and was on Post Release Community Supervision in Placer County. 

On April 26, 2019, CSU developed information that Davis’s girlfriend was at a location in Rocklin. CSU Detectives conducted a search on the 3600 block of Amethyst Drive Rocklin, CA. During the search it was determined the subjects were listening to the police scanner and watching on video surveillance.

The following items were seized:  
• Methamphetamine for sale
• Heroin for sale
• Drug packaging
• Drug paraphernalia
• Over 100 rounds of ammunition
• 4 firearms

Eric Lopez (3/23/90) and Brittany M. Johnson (12/23/94) were arrested and booked into Placer County Jail on various charges. Lopez is a convicted felon and on probation in Placer County.

On April 30, 2019 CSU Detectives continued their investigation and determined that Davis’s family member aided him in removing and concealing evidence, after he was arrested in Sacramento County. CSU Detectives made contact with the family member on the 1200 block of Hemingway Drive Roseville, CA.  At the conclusion of the investigation Elizabeth A. Jordan (6/17/50) was booked into the Placer County Jail for aiding Davis.

Case #2

On April 30, 2019, A Roseville Patrol Officer developed information that a convicted felon was trying to sell multiple firearms, including an AR-15 rifle. Detectives from the Roseville Police Department’s Crime Suppression Unit, along with the Patrol Officer wrote a search warrant for the subject’s residence. On 5/1/2019 a search warrant was executed on the 1200 block of Billington Lane Roseville, CA, by the Roseville and Rocklin SWAT Team. 

The following items were seized:
• 2 Rifles- 1 reported stolen out of a different jurisdiction
• 2 rifle uppers
• 1 semi-automatic shotgun
• 5 handguns- 1 reported stolen out of a different jurisdiction
• 5 handgun slides/barrels
• Several extended magazines for various shotguns and rifles
• Over 2000 rounds of ammunition in various calibers

Charges were forwarded to the Placer County District Attorney’s Office.
