Roseville residents interested in filling the City Council seat vacated by Mayor Bonnie Gore can apply to the City Council beginning Monday, January 7. Gore will be sworn in as a member of the Placer Board of Supervisors for District 1 on January 8.
The Roseville City Charter provides that a vacancy on the City Council must be filled by a majority of the remaining Council members within 30 days of the vacancy, or a special election must be called.
Applications to fill the vacant seat will be available in the Roseville City Clerk's office, 311 Vernon Street, beginning Monday, January 7. The deadline for submittal is 5 p.m., Friday, January 18 delivered to the City Clerk's office. Applications not received by the deadline will not be accepted.
The City Council will review the applications and is expected to make an appointment at its February 6 meeting.
Persons interested in being appointed to the City Council vacancy must be a:
- Roseville resident
- age 18 or older, and
- registered voter.
Applicants must complete:
- a written application which includes biographical information, employment and occupation, education, professional and community service information;
- a mandatory video interview to be done January 21 through January 23; and
- a Statement of Economic Interests Form 700 as required by state law.
The Roseville City Attorney's Office will review the completed economic interest forms as part of the review process.
Regular meetings of the City Council are held on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 311 Vernon Street. Additional meetings are held as necessary.
Extensive time is required in addition to Council meetings since members of the Roseville City Council serve on 31 auxiliary boards, committees, and commissions associated with Roseville and the Placer and Sacramento region. Councilmember compensation is $600 per month, per the City Charter.
