Caltrans Ramp Metering Begins at Hwy 65 and Blue Oaks Blvd.

Caltrans will activate ramp meters (stop and go lights) on the Blue Oaks ramp to Highway 65 beginning July 8th. According to Caltrans, the ramp metering is necessary to relieve congestion on Highway 65 and to allow for safe merging from the on-ramp to the highway.

For the first week, the ramp meter will be remain green at all times. Beginning on July 15th, the stop and go metering will operate from 6 a.m to 9 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. California Highway Patrol will likely be in the vicinity of the ramp to enforce the new meters.

Ramp metering throughout all of California is owned and operated by Caltrans.  The signalized intersection of Blue Oaks Blvd. and Washington Blvd. is also under Caltrans' jurisdiction.

A traffic study was completed to set the metering rate, which is expected to be similar to other meters within Roseville. For the first 2 to 3 days, Caltrans will have staff on site to monitor and adjust the ramp metering to ensure optimal operation. The right turn from Blue Oaks Blvd. onto southbound Washington Blvd. will not be affected.
