The program is offered through the Roseville Police Activities League (RPAL). Tech Teens highlights the functions of various city employees and functions spanning six City departments.

We’re heading into our sixth season. This year, we’re filled with more staff, opportunities, and some pretty cool demonstrations. We have more than 40 staff volunteers committed, and we are excited to announce our partnership with the Roseville Library!

“We are trying to mold future leaders of Information Technology,” said Hong Sae, the city’s chief information officer. “Students with very little access to resources, mentorship, and training will gain the opportunity to learn from the very best at the city.”

The program consists of six informational sessions that cover leadership skills, project management, business practices, and customer service. “The Tech Teens program gives us the chance to reflect on what we do, why we do it, and who we serve,” said Sae.

Information Technology at the city goes beyond our desktops and email. The students learn about real-world technology applications, they also visit the CSI lab at the Police Department, the 911 dispatch center, fire training facility, learn about the city’s radio technology, police mobile-command centers, and SWAT tools.

The 6th session of Tech Teens Leadership Academy takes begins September 27th. If you have a teen interested in technology who attends a high school in Roseville, please encourage them to apply through the RPAL website, or if you’re interested in sponsoring a teen, please contact Vivi at (916) 772-7725.
