An unknown individual accessed his online account and made the purchases. The individual was able to gain entry to the business and collect the packages after they were delivered. The unknown individual also charged over $50,000 at Best Buy.

2021-00011962 3/4/21 10:40 AM Fraud 1200 Block of Hemingway Dr Victim received a text message which asked him to confirm an Amazon purchase of a $2,500 television. Victim said the message told him to call the listed number if he did not make the purchase. He called the number to protest the purchase and a male answered and stated his name was "Adam". Victim said the suspect told him that his accounts had been hacked. Victim said the suspect was able to tell him the last four digits of his credit card and a few of his most recent Amazon purchases as a conformation that he in fact worked for Amazon employee. Victim said the suspect told him that in order to reimburse his account for the debt, he was required to purchase $1,000 in Target gift cards and provide the gift card number. Victim complied with the suspect’s request. When he provided the suspect with the card number, the suspect would explain there was a computer system issue and order victim to purchase more cards. By the time the victim determined he was being scammed, he had purchased $9,000 worth of Target and Best Buy gift cards. CRIME TIP: Talk to someone. Before you give up your money or personal information, talk to someone you trust. Con artists want you to make decisions in a hurry. They might even threaten you. Slow down, check out the story, do an online search, consult an expert - or just tell a friend.
2021-00012759 3/8/21 8:00 AM Fraud 1600 Block of San Antonio Lane Victim received a phone call from a male named “David Romo”. Suspect stated the victim’s daughter was involved in a traffic accident in Nevada and that he needed to post her $5,000 dollar bail. Suspect then called victim and informed him that they need an additional $5,000 because an infant was killed in the traffic collision. Victim was given a code to transfer the money.

2021-00011913 3/4/21 2:08 PM Vehicle Theft 8011 Washington Blvd Suspect stole a vehicle from a carwash. The stolen vehicle was equipped with GPS tracking equipment and the owner was able to track the vehicle. CHP officers located the stolen vehicle and detained the driver, who was subsequently booked at Placer County Jail.
2021-00011883 3/4/21 1:30 PM Vehicle Theft 8011 Washington Blvd An adult male suspect stole the victim's vehicle from in front of a Chevron gas. An adult female suspect followed stolen vehicle to a near-by neighborhood where the two suspects stole over $950 worth tools from the vehicle. They were later detained and found to be in possession of the stolen tools, stolen checks, and numerous shaved vehicle keys. The suspects were placed under arrest and transported to the South Placer County Jail.
