Johnson Ranch, warrant arrests, stolen car recovered: At 5:45 p.m. May 6, officers responded to a parking lot in the 8600 block of Sierra College Blvd. to check for a man with a warrant. The man ran from officers, but the officers quickly caught him. His companion was sitting in a stolen car from Alabama, and officers arrested her after a struggle. Officers took the 45-year-old Yuba City man to jail on suspicion of possessing a stolen car, obstructing officers, possessing methamphetamine and narcotics, and six outstanding warrants issued by Sutter and Yuba counties for charges that included robbery and evading officers. They also arrested a 33-year-old Roseville woman on suspicion of resisting an executive officer, possessing a stolen car, possessing drug paraphernalia, and taking drugs into the jail. (2018-25934)
South Cirby, assault: At 5:30 p.m. May 9, officers responded to a report of a man assaulting a landscaper in the 1900 block of Wildwood Way over a parking dispute. The victim had facial injuries from being punched. The suspect, a 45-year-old Roseville man, was booked into the South Placer Jail on a private person’s arrest for battery and for probation violation. (2018-28160)
Sierra Gardens, warrant arrest: At 1:45 a.m. May 8, officers responded to 1600 Kent Place to a report of a man walking around the apartment complex, knocking on windows. They contacted the man, who said he was there to check on a relative. They arrested the 24-year-old Sacramento man on outstanding warrants. (2018-27715)
Lead Hill, vehicle burglaries: Between 7:45 and 9:30 p.m. May 8, someone smashed the windows of three vehicles in a theater/restaurant parking lot at North Sunrise Avenue and Eureka Road, and took backpacks and other valuables that were visible inside the vehicles. (2018-27909, 27910, 27912)
Lead Hill, stolen SUV recovered: At 9:20 p.m. May 9, officers checked on a GMC SUV in the 1500 block of Eureka Road, and found out it had been reported stolen. The driver said he’d bought it from a private seller via the “offer up” app. Officers returned the stolen SUV to its rightful owner, and released the driver. (2018-28200)
Tip: If you’re buying a vehicle from a private party, be careful and make sure the vehicle’s not stolen. One easy way is to meet the seller at DMV, go inside with them to have the paperwork checked, and complete the paperwork to transfer title. Otherwise, you could lose your money or even be arrested if you’re found in possession of a stolen vehicle.
Beat 3 (central Roseville south of the rail yard)
Downtown, warrant arrests: At 10:06 p.m. May 7, an officer checked the Vernon Street Parking Garage and contacted a couple loitering on the top story (yes, it’s a violation of the municipal code to be in the parking garage except to park and retrieve a vehicle.) Both people had outstanding warrants. The 26-year-old Roseville man resisted arrest and was taken into custody after a scuffle. The 23-year-old Sacramento woman was arrested on her warrant without incident. (2018-27693)
Downtown, disturbance: At 9:56 p.m. May 5, officers responded to the corner of Oak St. and Folsom Road, to a report of a naked man running around the fire station construction area. The man initially challenged officers to fight, but then surrendered and was detained without further incident. They took him to the hospital to get checked out, and then to jail to sober up. Folsom Road, DUI: Officers responded to a fender-bender in a parking lot on Folsom Road at Estates Drive, and arrested one of the drivers, a 28-year-old Newcastle man, on suspicion of DUI. (2018-28129)
Hilltop, suspicious circumstances, unfounded: Just before 8 a.m. May 8, an apparently homeless couple went into a business in the 1900 block of PFE Road and said they had been “dumpster diving” in the business’s dumpster, and had seen a dead child. The couple seemed frightened and quickly left the area, and officers couldn’t locate them. The trash from the dumpster had already been picked up. Dispatch immediately called Roseville Environmental Utilities, and they contacted the refuse truck driver, who by then had picked up about 30 dumpster-loads of garbage. The driver drove the truck back to the City Corporation Yard on Hilltop Circle and emptied it. Officers and Roseville Fire personnel sifted through all the garbage and eventually found some baby dolls that someone had thrown away. The employees who worked on this incident were stinky, but relieved that the initial report was unfounded. (2018-27732)
Beat 4 (central Roseville north of the rail yard)
Roseville Heights, drug arrest: At 3:37 p.m. May 9, officers responded to a report of a woman sitting at a picnic table in Weber Park, “huffing” spray paint and also spray-painting a bicycle. Officers contacted the woman, who had indeed been painting her bike. Officers didn’t find any evidence that she’d been huffing paint, but did find she was in possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia. They cited the 49-year-old Roseville woman on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine, and issued her a 30-day park exclusion notice for the misdemeanor citation. Roseville’s municipal code allows officers to issue notices banning people from all city parks and facilities for specified periods of time for crimes and violations of park regulations. (2018-28146)
Vineyard, disturbance, arrest: At 7:11 a.m. May 8, officers responded to a disturbance inside a home in the 300 block of Brentwood Road. Officers took a 31-year-old Roseville man to jail on a parole hold. (2018-27727)
Beat 5 (north central Roseville)
Industrial East, fraud arrest: At 1:20 p.m. May 2, officers responded to a store warehouse at 10000 Alantown Drive, where a woman was trying to pick up some merchandise she had purchased through fraudulent means (using someone’s stolen ID on a credit application). Officers contacted the suspect and found evidence of identity theft involving several more victims. They arrested the 47-year-old Sacramento woman on suspicion of identity theft. Her two companions were arrested on outstanding warrants from Sacramento and El Dorado counties. (2018-26748)
Highland Reserve, drug arrest: At 11:51 p.m. May 6, an officer was patrolling a store parking lot in the 900 block of Pleasant Grove Blvd., and checked on two people sitting in a car that had no license plates. His investigation led him to search the car, and he found methamphetamine and evidence of drug sales. He arrested a 29-year-old Rio Linda woman on suspicion of possessing and transporting drugs for sale. (2018-27447)
Stanford, vehicle burglary: At 2:45 a.m. May 4, a man smashed the window of a car in the 6700 block of Maple Creek Drive, and took a cardboard box from the rear passenger seat. The man was seen on video surveillance, and appeared to be a black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and gray sweats. He left in a white Saturn four-door sedan with a sunroof and a spoiler. Beat 6 (west Roseville)
Junction West, identity theft arrests: At 4:52 a.m. May 3, officers responded to the 1600 block of Soledad Drive. A witness had seen two women wearing backpacks, walking around the neighborhood “going through” parked cars. Officers checked the area, and a little later contacted two suspects. A search of their car produced stolen identity information of more than ten people, methamphetamine and burglar’s tools. They arrested a 33-year-old woman from Rancho Cordova and a 23-year-old Rio Linda woman on suspicion of identity theft, possessing methamphetamine and burglar’s tools, conspiracy and other related charges. This was a great “suspicious activity” call by the concerned resident! (2018-26667)
Fiddyment Farms, vehicle theft: Between 2:11 a.m. and 5:45 a.m. May 9, someone smashed a vehicle window and stole a gold 2007 Honda Civic from the 4000 block of Creamery Way. A U-Haul truck was seen cruising the area several times during the same time frame. (2018-27962)
Fiddyment Farms, theft: At 11:30 p.m. May 9, officers responded to a citizen’s report of a man stealing construction materials from a home being built in the 3000 block of Stonington Court. An officer stopped an older black Chevy truck in the area and confirmed it was loaded with stolen lumber and materials. The officer had the driver return all the materials to the site, and towed his truck, as the man’s driver’s license was suspended. The report will be forwarded to the DA’s office for consideration of theft charges. (2018-28230)
