Responsibilities & Duties

The responsibilities and duties of the Engineering Land Development staff include:

  • Reviewing and imposing "conditions of approval" for all new private development projects related to improvements within the public right-of-way as well as on-site grading and drainage;
  • Reviewing all construction documents for conformance with City development and construction standards, and issuing approved plans upon acceptance;
  • Reviewing and administering the filing and City acceptance of subdivision final maps, parcel maps, lot line adjustments, and mergers;
  • Administering all grading and encroachment permits;
  • Responding to questions about storm drain systems under city streets;
  • Responding  to questions about basketball hoops in the public right-of-way; and
  • Responding  to questions about installing gates on streets.
