Our department provides plan check and construction inspection of land development and buildings, along with design and construction of streets, bikeways, bridges, and flood control projects. Our department also operates and maintans the City's transit system, provides maintenance for over 428 center line miles of City streets including street sweeping and the annual leaf pickup programs, operates and maintains 166 traffic signals, and manages the flood alert system of stream gauges. Our department is also responsible to implement the Transportation Systems Management Ordinance by promoting alternative transportation measures with large employers in the City. The department currently employs 111 full time equivalent employees.
