The Citizen Police Academy The Citizen Police Awareness Academy provides community members with an inside look at local law enforcement. During the academy, students will be introduced to Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving, K‐9 Unit, Investigation’s Unit, Records Division, Search/Seizure, Gangs, Narcotics and a tour of the Roseville Police Department.
The eight session academy is designed to give Citizens an overview of the police department’s policies and procedures as well as to get them involved in the community. Academy classes are taught by police personnel. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with the Chief of Police and staff members. The Roseville Police Department hopes to instill a greater awareness and understanding of law enforcement’s role in the community, through the education provided by the Citizen Police Academy, as well as provide a great resource for volunteers. Volunteer Opportunities The Citizen academy is a required course in becoming a volunteer. The Roseville Police Department offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities. Academy Schedule The Roseville Citizen Police Awareness Academy is offered bi‐annually; it consists of six sessions. Classes are held at the Roseville Police Department. Participant Requirements Potential candidates for the Citizen Police Awareness Academy must meet the following criteria: - Minimum age of 18 years
- Live or work in the Roseville area
Selection Process Citizen Academy participants are selected by the Chief of Police or his designee. Applications are available at the Police Department, by mail, and through the online form, below. Once selected, candidates will be notified by mail. Enrollment is limited to approximately fifty (50) students per academy. | |
