A Very Productive Walk in the Park:
Royer Park-Dry Creek Visioning Project a Success
On February 9-10, 2005 the City of Roseville hosted the Models of Innovation Conference. This very successful conference featured a number of dynamic speakers who stimulated thought-provoking discussions on the role of innovation and creativity in an organization. Fred and Ethan Kent of Project for Public Spaces (PPS) were two of the conference’s keynote speakers. PPS has gained international recognition as experts on creating public spaces that attract people. Their “Creating World Class Public Spaces” discussion was a highlight of the event.
In addition to their participation in the conference, both Fred and Ethan agreed to extend their stay an extra day in order to facilitate a field walk and site assessment along the Royer Park/Dry Creek Improvement Project Area. Redevelopment staff, in conjunction with Parks, Recreation, and Libraries, Transit, Planning, and Community Services have developed a vision for an improvement project in Downtown Roseville that would encompass Oak Street and Dry Creek along Royer Park. The goal of the field walk was encourage input regarding the vision for the area that identified key opportunities for improvement and fostered connectivity throughout the area.
