Activities & Special Events

Roseville Parks & Recreation offers a wide spectrum of classes and activities for all ages, including ages 50+. Most of these classes and programs are currently held at the Maidu Community Center, located at 1550 Maidu Drive (off Rocky Ridge between Douglas Blvd. and Cirby Way) on the southeast side of Roseville.

Socrates Cafe
Enjoy a safe environment where every opinion counts in this interesting philosophical discussion club. Meets on the 1st Friday of each month from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

Road Scholars (formerly Elderhostel Alumni Club)
Meets quarterly on the 1st Friday (February, May, August & November)

Travels with Arne 
Enjoy a monthly slide show of Arne Kalma's beautiful photographs taken around the world. Arne is usually scheduled on the 3rd Friday of each month at 1:00pm. Call the Maidu Senior Desk for more info.

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute of Sierra College, aka OLLI (formerly Sierra Emeritus College)
Classes are held at the Maidu Community Center as well as other locations throughout Placer County. These free, non-credit enrichment courses include the following topics: Art, Film, Fitness, History, Literature, Photography and much more. Catalogs are available at the Maidu Senior Wing or call the Sierra College office at (916) 781-6290.

Fitness & Fun

Maidu Walkers

Weekdays at 8:00am (9:00am October - May). Meet in front of the rose garden, in front of the Korean War Memorial, located in Maidu Regional Park for a 2 - 3 mile walk around the park. Walking is one of the best forms of exercise, it's free and fun!

Fitness Classes
Yoga, Tai Chi, Never Too Late Aerobics, Chair Fitness, Chair Fitness Plus, Nice & Easy Fitness and other fitness classes are also offered. Please see the Recreation Guide for details.

Bingo
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:30 - 2:30 pm
The cost is 5¢ per card per game. Doors open at 12:00pm.

Bridge
For all levels of players:
Tuesdays, 9:00 - 11:30am. Doors open at 8:00am.

For Intermediate Players:
Wednesdays, 9:00am - 1:00pm

Chess
Thursdays, 9:30 - 11:30am

Cribbage
Thursdays, 9:00 - 11:30am

Game Day
Mondays, 12:15 - 3:00pm
Pinochle and Mah Jongg are the most popular games played.

Meets every 3rd Monday from September - May (except January & February when they meet every 2nd Monday), 9:00 - 11:30am.
