Operation Swim
Program Background
Operation Swim was started in 2011, when the Aquatics Supervisor noticed that at a Family Swim Night, numerous children were swimming in their clothes because they did not have swim suits. Since 2011, Operation Swim has provided 142 children with swim lessons and over 200 children have received new swim suits and towels.
The Need
Every child deserves to learn the life saving skills of water safety and swimming. Did you know that drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury-related death for children ages 1-14? It can and should be prevented. Research shows that if a child doesn't learn to swim by the third grade, they likely never will. Teaching children to swim is a vital skill for drowning prevention along with other water safety measures that everyone can take to stay safe in and around the water. Unfortunately, many children in our community can’t afford a swim suit and towel, much less swimming lessons. Help us change that!
Many Benefits
Our goal is twofold:

- Accept monetary donations to help pay for swim lessons for at least 150 kids. For every $40 collected, a child receives a new swim suit, beach towel and swimming lessons!

CONFIDENTAILITY
The information provided on this Youth Passport Application will not be given to anyone that is not part of the Parks and Recreation Department administrative staff. The information will be used only to decide if the child is eligible to receive reduced program fees. For more info, please contact Roseville Parks, Recreation & Libraries at (916) 774-5505.
 In celebration of the Memorial Day Holiday, the Roseville Aquatics Complex has extended hours and is open 1-5. Mike Shellito Indoor Pool is open 7-11am. No group water fitness programs will be available. The Roseville Sports Center is open 7-1 on Memorial Day. Child care, climbing wall and group fitness programs will be closed. All other Parks, Recreation & Libraries locations are closed with the exception of the parks which are open sunrise-1 hour after sunset.
