Petroglyph

Mortar and pestle with pigments and soaproot brush

The Maidu Museum provides a glimpse into the cultural and material life of the Maidu people, both ancient and modern.

The Museum displays a sample of tools made by the Native Californians who once lived here and a variety of the baskets, toys and games they used. Cultural features which can be seen on the Trail include petroglyphs and grinding holes. Together, the Museum and the Trail give the visitor a sense of what life may have been like for the early inhabitants of this area.
