Boba or pearl tea are blends of tea, milk, fruit juice, and flavored syrups that buoy marble-size spheres of chewy tapioca. Wayne Lin founded the growing chain of drink and snack shops in 1999, started with simple versions of the Taiwanese delicacy and then systematically designed and tested new flavors—such as coconut pineapple and vanilla cookie—in a state-of-the-art flavor collider.

Today, the menu tallies more than 100 different kinds of drinks, including yogurt and fresh-fruit smoothies, creamy coffee drinks, and tea-based slushies. Food choices may be a little easier: favorites from the concise, pan-Asian menu include crispy chicken, steamed buns, and tempura.

El Pollo Loco applies for design review permit

el-pollo-loco.jpgDesign Review is under way for El Pollo Loco to construct a new 2,976 square foot restaurant at 9501 Fairway Drive.  El Pollo Loco goes to crazy lengths for their signature citrus-marinated, fire-grilled chicken. They marinate fresh, whole chickens in a special recipe of herbs, spices, fruit juices and garlic. The whole chickens are then fire-grilled, hand-cut, and served with their chicken meals, burritos, salads, soups, tacos and quesadillas. And if that’s not enough, they apply that same passion to  handmade guacamole, salsas and dressings every day. Yum!
