Possible night work on Blue Oaks widening and resurfacing project

Updated July 25:

Blue Oaks Boulevard from Crocker Ranch Road to Foothills Boulevard is being widened from two lanes in each direction, to three. Road resurfacing will also occur on Blue Oaks Boulevard between Crocker Ranch Road and Highway 65. The portion of road between Foothills Boulevard and Highway 65 is not being widened as part of this project. Construction is underway weekdays, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through September 2014. Impacts on traffic will include intermittent lane closures which may result in delays. Every effort is being made to minimize effects on traffic. See the current work schedule in the table below.

To reduce traffic impact, night work may occur, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., July 28-31. Blue Oaks Boulevard is a heavily used main arterial road and some work requires prolonged lane closures. So construction during certain phases of the project is being restricted to nighttime work hours. Because homes are nearby, the City is limiting night work as much as possible. However, because some construction work would cause significant traffic disruption during the day, completing the work at night is the best alternative. The contractor will post electronic message signs at each end of the construction area showing the date, time, and type of construction. The roadway will reopen to traffic as soon as it is ready and safe for drivers.

This project is funded through Traffic Mitigation Funds and state grants

Adjacent Retail Development Project

A developer is constructing a new shopping center on the vacant parcel to the north east of the Blue Oaks and Woodcreek Oaks intersection. Construction should begin in early April and be completed in October of 2014. This work will coincide with the City of Roseville's Blue Oaks Widening Project. However, it is a separate private project being constructed by a private party.

The project will include the addition of an auxiliary right turn lane along the frontage of the parcel, as well as a new traffic signal at the eastern end of the parcel between Woodcreek Oaks and New Meadow. New traffic signal timings have been created along the road corridor to account for the new traffic signal, so drivers should not experience any additional delay once the projects are completed. View site plan.
