More information on automated phone message from the City of Roseville on back-up groundwater well activation

Customers served water by the City of Roseville have received an automated phone message from a regional mass-notification system with the caller ID (999) 999-9999 either Thursday, January 23 or Friday, January 24 with notification of groundwater well activation. 

When you receive a call, answer it and once you’ve heard the message, press 1 to acknowledge receipt of the call. This will ensure you are not called repeatedly.

Following is the information contained in the call:

Due to unprecedented dry weather conditions and low water levels at Folsom Reservoir, the City of Roseville will be activating back-up groundwater wells to serve City of Roseville water customers.

Groundwater wells will be active Monday, January 27, 2014 and operated until further notice.
Groundwater is safe to drink and meets all state and federal drinking water standards although some customers may notice a difference in water characteristics. To learn more visit or call 774-5750. We are also asking for Roseville water customers to immediately reduce their water use by 20 percent from the same period of time last year. The easiest way to do this is to turn off your outdoor irrigation. More details on how to conserve water can be found at

The well-activation notice applies to City of Roseville water customers and not to Roseville residents and businesses who are customers of San Juan Water District, Placer County Water Agency or Citrus Heights Water District; however all Roseville residents and businesses are included in the city's request that residents and businesses reduce their water use voluntarily by 20 percent.
