Please join us for a Night Out at the Museum on August 15, 2015 from 6:30pm - 8:30pm featuring "Rush for Gold: The Untold Stories of the Gold Rush." Rush For Gold is a short documentary featuring the Nisenan Indians of the Nevada City Rancheria. Shelly Covert (Nisenan/Miwok) serves as Tribal Council Secretary of the Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan Tribe and Executive Director of the California Heritage: Indigenous Research Project (CHIRP). Shelly will share further insights about the Nisenan and the processes of making the film.

The film talks about the Gold Rush era but also features the seldom heard voice of the Nisenan people who met the gold epidemic head on. In the film, members of the Nevada City Rancheria Tribal Council share their personal, family stories. The film also discusses the long-term environmental effects brought about by early hydraulic mining.
