CIO - IT Communication (Citywide Strategic Technology Plan)

August 17, 2012

In February of this year, we began developing the 2012-15 Citywide Strategic Technology Plan and the ultimate focus of this effort is to ensure business successes for the City of Roseville's departments. Through successful planning, we will continue to improve project delivery and collaborative efforts. Departments such as Public Works Development Team, Police, Fire, Parks/Rec/Libraries, HR, Finance and Communications have already noticed improvements in collaboration and an increase on the success of IT projects and their business outcomes.

Exceptional Staff is critical to the implementation of the Strategic Technology Plan, and our team is ready to operate at the highest performance levels (We have the right planning programs, infrastructure, and customer service philosophy to ensure our future successes). Every month, I have the opportunity to meet with all Department Heads and the City Manager; and I hear great things about the work you do for our customers on a constant basis. Their praises of your excellent service were obvious and they were impressed with our quick response and actions taken to allow them in continuing their day-to-day business (Excellent work!!). I am impressed with the dedication and professionalism of our team and proud to be a part of IT / The recent Pride of Roseville awards in IT are a perfect example.

Another key to the Strategic Vision of Roseville's IT is embrace the initiatives preliminary identified with the draft planning document today - Cloud Computing, Information / Big Data, Social Media Computing and Mobilization / Consumerization. With this in mind, you will notice that the Planning team will begin working on the creation of the Strategic Project Management Office, focusing on the four initiatives above to ensure that we have the proper tool sets and resources to meet the challenges ahead. With that said, the planning initiative has already accomplished several successful vision alignment tasks and professional trainings designed to streamline our operations and ensure that the department continue to operate in the most effective way possible.

With our strong Leadership Team (Mike, Tom, Gaston, Scott, Art, Duke, Roger and all of you) and a focus on excellent service, I am confident that IT will continue to provide strategic values and innovative technology solutions to all of our customers. Furthermore, I am committed to ensure that our IT program initiatives produce the best outcomes for the City and the Community.

Thank you and keep up the good work!
