Aldo Pineschi, Jr.was the recipient of the 2010 Sylvia Besana Community Volunteer award. Aldo was recognized at the November 17, 2010 Roseville City Council meeting as the winner of the Sylvia Besana Community Volunteer award. He received a framed resolution from the City and his name has been engraved on a plaque commemorating the honor. The plaque is displayed in the lobby of the civic center and includes space to recognize future recipients. This award recognized Mr. Pineschi for his many hours of community service. Aldo Pineschi Jr. has been involved with and served on the board of the Tommy Apostolas Fund for the past 22 years. He has worked with the Chamber of Commerce to produce the annual Holiday and 4th of July parades for many years. He is a founding member of the Roseville High School Alumni Association as well as an active member of the Music in the Parks board. He has also participated in the annual SPLASH event held at the Roseville Aquatics Center. Melba Erven - 2009
Melba Erven, a lifelong volunteer and friend of Sylvia Besana is the inaugural recipient of the Sylvia Besana Community Volunteer award. Erven was recognized at the November 18, 2009 Roseville City Council meeting as the inaugural winner of the Sylvia Besana Community Volunteer award. Erven received a glass gift from the City and her name has been engraved on a plaque commemorating the honor. The plaque is displayed in the lobby of the civic center and includes space to recognize future recipients. This is not the first award honoring Erven for her many hours of community service, Erven was recognized in 1986 with the first Athena Business Woman of the Year Award and in 1992 was awarded as a Woman of the Year by the California State Assembly. Aside from being heavily involved with the Soroptimists for the last 53 years, Erven has served on the Roseville Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors as treasurer and vice president, worked to prevent neighborhood crime with Roseville Crime Stoppers and is a member of the Lions Club.
