What is the Heartbleed Bug?
The Heartbleed Bug is vulnerability with OpenSSL, which can allow protected information to be comprised and downloaded.

What is OpenSSL?
OpenSSL is an open-source protocol, which has a core library written in the C programming language. In layman’s terms, it’s a common Internet protocol used online to encrypt sensitive data. So, most websites that perform transactions, such as online banking, cloud-based email providers (Yahoo, Google), Amazon, eBay, Facebook, etc.

What is the City’s Information Technology Department doing to protect our data?
The City’s Information Technology Department constantly strives to ensure that our technology infrastructure is secure. None of our internal or public-facing websites are affected by the vulnerability; however, we will continue to closely monitor the environment to make sure that we remain protected.
