SAFE KIDS Placer County

Placer County Safe Kids mission is to prevent accidental childhood injury, a leading killer of children 14 and under.

Safe Kids Placer County is one of over 600 Coalitions and Chapters of Safe Kids World Wide. Safe Kids Placer County is a non profit organization that is funded by the generosity of the community we serve, and hosted at the Roseville Fire Department. We bring together health and safety experts, educators, corporations, foundations, governments, and volunteers to educate and protect families.

OUR PROGRAMS

CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY:

Kids Can Live With It!

The mission of Safe Kids Buckle Up is to ensure that all children are appropriately restrained in vehicles. Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for U.S. children between the ages of 1 and 14. Safe Kids Buckle Up community education occurs in a variety of settings:

Checkup events

Safe Kids Placer County hosts at least four checkup events per calendar year. Events are held at highly visible locations where parents would often be driving with their children such as Babies R Us. The events focus on protecting children in cars as a lifelong commitment. Children take 3 steps; infant seats, toddler seats and booster seats before graduating to the vehicle safety belt, and we educate the parents on when the children are ready for these steps.

Inspection stations

Safe Kids Placer County has 6 public safety agencies operating multiple car seat fitting stations.Appointments can be made to have a car seat installation inspected at any of the following public safety agencies; Auburn Fire Department, California Department of Forestry (CDF), California Highway Patrol (CHP), Roseville Fire Department, Rocklin Fire Department, and Lincoln Fire Department. These agencies are provided with technical help, and any materials that they may need to run their fitting stations.  For mor information on car seat installation and inspection, please click on the following links.
