Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan Steering Committee


2009-2010 Steering Committee

The Multi-Hazard Mitigation Steering Committee formation was originally approved by the City Council on June 16, 2004. The Committee met monthly to prepare the 2005 Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan. Since then, the Committee has met annually to prepare progress reports on implementation of the Plan.

The Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan Update requires extensive community participation. The Multi-Hazard Steering Committee will again meet monthly from August 2009 to June 2010 to prepare the Plan Update. A final Plan Update will then be forwarded for the City Council to review and to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for adoption.

General duties of the Committee include:

  • Review of the federal requirements and their application to Roseville.
  • Establish the tasks and schedule of meetings for the plan preparation.
  • Review of data, risk assessment, actions, mitigation measures and final recommendations to be included in Roseville plans.
  • Review of consistency of the draft Roseville plan with Placer County and State of California Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plans.
  • Encourage and solicit public involvement at Steering Committee meetings and through availability of Committee materials.
  • Review and recommendation of final draft plan to the Roseville City Council

2004-2005 Steering Committee

Per Council approval on June 16, 2004, the Steering Committee is to be comprised of individuals representing Roseville citizens, including a flood victim, business, schools and emergency response representatives. Roseville will also have an ex officio member from Placer County Office of Emergency. An extensive electronic mailing list of neighboring jurisdictions, state and federal agencies, and local special districts such as the Placer County Flood Control District will be created so that all agendas and materials can be distributed and reviewed by other affected agencies.

The Steering Committee is scheduled to meet monthly from late August 2004 through March 2005 when a final plan will be forwarded to the City Council for review and then submitted to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for their review and approval.
