Composting yard waste at home saves the cost and energy of transporting it to the landfill, reducing pollution and keeping the biomass and nutrients in your yard. Saturday, April 10, 2010 11:00am–noon Course # 46992 If you don’t have the room or enough green waste to have an outdoor compost bin, but want to create a nutrient-rich natural fertilizer and soil amendment at home, vermicomposting is the answer. Learn how to set up and maintain a worm bin to recycle your food scraps and used paper. During this family workshop you will create your own worm bin to take home, complete with enough red worms to get you started. Soon you’ll be harvesting worm castings to feed your houseplants and gardens. Taught by Christy Bigley.
