Hydroelectric Surcharge Update

As of March 1, 2013 the precipitation rate is at 100 percent of normal for this time of year.

Roseville Electric will continue to monitor and post monthly updates through the Spring. Roseville Electric will know by June if a hydroelectric rate surcharge will be implemented beginning July 1, 2013.
 
While we received slightly below average precipitation as of June 2012, Roseville Electric did not implement a hydroelectric surcharge on energy charges for bills issued between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013. 

The hydroelectric surcharge was adopted by the City Council in 2009 as a way to fund the purchase of electricity that was not provided from our hydroelectric resources due to lower than average precipitation. The hydroelectric adjustment is determined annually in May and is based on precipitation in the Northern Sierras and the market price of energy.

In years when less than average rainfall is received, Roseville Electric customers may see a surcharge of between 1 and 5 percent.

Conversely, in years where rainfall exceeds the average and the Rate Stabilization Fund is at the maximum required level, customers may receive a credit of between 1 and 5 percent.
