Reduce Energy Use

Green... before it was cool. You’ve seen the headlines about climate change. Federal and state lawmakers, business leaders, and other groups are working to determine how our country will reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Roseville Electric and the City of Roseville are looking at its policies and practices as it relates to climate change. In California, the electric industry – the process of generating and delivering energy to homes and businesses – will play a role in green house gas emissions reductions. California's electric industry contributes about 30 percent to the State’s overall green house gas emission totals. By comparison, transportation represents 60 percent of the total gases produced.

But you don’t have to wait for federal, state, or local officials to take action. By being energy efficient, you reduce your consumption, which lowers the amount of green house gases created by electricity generation. The City of Roseville has opportunities for you to learn how to minimize your impact on the environment through the choices you make. For example, learn how much energy your appliances use. Check out Roseville's Utility Exploration Center for a hands-on learning experience about reducing energy and water consumption, and garbage recycling that is both fun and thought provoking.
