Roseville Electric Profile

Established in 1911, Roseville Electric is the City's electric utility provider. Its 130 employees proudly serve 52,000 residential and business customers located in Placer County, just east of Sacramento.  As a municipal owned utility, Roseville Electric's primary purpose is to provide highly reliable electricity to the businesses and residents of Roseville.

Roseville Electric is under the supervision of the Roseville City Council. The seven member Roseville Public Utilities Commission serves as an advisory board to the City Council on matters pertaining to utilities owned and operated by the City.  Customers are encouraged to participate in our local Public Utility Commission meetings, held in the City Council Chambers on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

For nine consecutive years, we've been honored by PA Consulting with its ReliabilityOne™ Award and in 2008; we received the RP3 Designation from the American Public Power Association recognizing our high work force standards and excellent customer service standards.

Most recently, Roseville Electric was  honored by the California Municipal Utilities Association for BEST Homes, a residential new construction program that integrates rooftop solar electric generation and high efficiency technology as a standard feature in new home developments.

The Roseville Energy Park is a natural gas fire plant and generates enough energy to meet 40 percent of our customers’ needs. The remainder of our energy is purchased through a variety of sources described in our power content label.

Roseville Electric continually seeks innovative ways to promote energy efficiency and sustainable living practices. Roseville’s Utility Exploration Center offers a hands-on, high tech experience to help children and adults understand how the way they use electricity and water can affect our environment.

For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2009, Roseville Electric served 51,828 customers; collected $129 million in revenue and had 1,234 Gwh in energy sales.
