|  Downtown Square construction began on August 2, 2012.
This will result in the permanent closure of the Civic Center parking lot as of Thursday, August 2. In addition, it eliminates parking on Grant Street, between Vernon and Oak Streets, throughout the length of the project. Visitors to the Civic Center are encouraged to take advantage of the 550+ space parking garage located one block west of this location at 405 Vernon Street.

Parking, Deliveries, and Accessibility
The final fencing plan still needs to be reviewed and approved. However, the initial layout should leave the Vernon Street frontage and pathway outside of the Civic Center (from Vernon Street to the Oak Street stairwell) completely open. The Oak Street sidewalk directly adjacent to the roadway will remain open and a portion of the sidewalk that acts as an extended ramp from the Oak/Grant intersection up to the Civic Center will be available.
It should be noted that the Grant Street sidewalk that forms the outside of the Downtown Square project area will not be open until the project is completed. During the early phases of the project, delivery truck can take advantage of the existing turnout on Vernon Street. As the project advances, alternative delivery truck parking options will need to be explored. What to Expect
Initial phases of the project include:
August – Fencing installation, mobilization, and demolition
September – Grading and utilities
During the initial phases, everyone should expect noise and dust as the contractors use heavy equipment to transition the space from a parking lot to a public plaza. Questions? Contact:

Project Location
The Downtown Square will occupy the property directly adjacent to the Roseville Civic Center on the 300 block of Vernon Street. The square will be bordered by Oak, Grant, and Vernon Streets.
Project Goals
The purpose of the Downtown Square project is to construct a square that will bring a new resource and destination to the area. The project proposes to create a visually attractive, pedestrian friendly, ADA compliant area.
Project Description
Features will include:
- Landscaping & lighting
- An interactive water fountain
- Event amenities (i.e. stage, convertible spaces, etc.)
- Signage and other improvements
The town square and these features will effectively fulfill the following functions: - The town square will support a wide assortment of programming activities;
- Create a space that can be used the entire year, even during the Valley summers; and,
- Solidify the identity of the town square as a pleasurable public area where community activities and special events can be held.
