|This morning Poyer Bill Pila Vaenuku, 28, of Sacramento was arrested in a Placer County courtroom in connection with a July 25 attempted robbery and shooting on Conroy Lane. The arrest was made as a result of a Roseville Police Crime Suppression Unit investigation.|
At 1:20 a.m. July 25, a man confronted a woman at gunpoint outside an apartment building in the 1100 block of Conroy Lane, and demanded her property. When she indicated to the robber that she didn't have anything to give him, the suspect fired his handgun at least three times. Although no one was struck or injured, one of the rounds went through the window of a nearby apartment, narrowly missing a resident inside.
Roseville Police Department's Crime Suppression Unit investigated with the assistance of Roseville patrol officers. Their investigation led to the Placer County District Attorney's Office filing charges against Vaenuku of assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into an occupied dwelling, and attempted robbery. He was ordered into custody this morning while he was appearing in court on another case, and is being booked into the Placer County Jail on $400,000 bail.
Vaenuku is a member of the Tongan Crip gang, and the Crime Suppression Unit is still investigating whether the attempted robbery and shooting were gang-related. Anyone who has any information that could help with this ongoing investigation is asked to call the Roseville Police Investigations Unit at (916)774-5070, text an anonymous tip to 274637 ("CRIMES"), starting the tip with the word "Roseville", or submit a tip on the Roseville Police Department's website, www.roseville.ca.us, navigating to "Submit a tip" on the menu on the left.
