Centennial Essay Contest Winner Announced

Here are the results for the Centennial Essay Contest. More than 60 of Roseville's third, fourth and fifth-graders submitted entries. Their participation helped boost Roseville's Centennial spirit, and on behalf of the City, we would like to personally thank every child that took part.

All entrants are formally invited to the recognition ceremony at 5 p.m., Thursday, April 16, at the Utility Exploration Center, 1501 Pleasant Grove Blvd. Winners will be awarded checks and get their picture with a member of the Roseville City Council, and refreshments will be available.

First Place: Kenna Son, St. Albans Country Day School
Second Place: Garbhita Shah, Gates Elementary
Third Place: Cesar Sanchez, Kaseberg Elementary

RULES
Open to all third, fourth and fifth-grade students in Roseville.

Write an essay between 200-400 words using your knowledge of local and state history.  What do you think Roseville will be like 100 years from now? What will be different about the lives of its residents, and what will stay the same? 

Entries are due Friday, Feb. 27. They will be judged by a panel with prizes given for first ($75), second ($25) and third ($25) places. Entries must be handwritten, and scanned-in versions may be e-mailed to jprobst@roseville.ca.us or mailed/dropped off at:

The City would award prizes of $75, $25 and $25 for the top three entries, as well as recognition during a formal ceremony and a picture with the Mayor or a City Council member.
